Narrative blog task

1) The film that follows Torodov's  structure is that titanic as it starts with the state of harmony as everyone is boarding the ship and this sets the seen which allows the audience to feel relaxed and sense of pleasure this is known as the equilibrium as this shows balanced normality of the world of the story. Furthermore there is a disequilibrium within this movie as the ship hits the ice burg and it crashes the ship making it sink and the complications arise as there isn't enough life boats on the ship and some people do get saved and some don't and the climax was that it does get solved as the women does get saved but the rest die so there is some sort of a pleasurable ending for the audience as it ends with peace and the disequilibrium is restored as it caused the world of text to change and it ends with normality creating a new Equilibrium.

2) This episode is from the vampire diaries and its the geographical markers establishes the setting through showing two people in a car driving and the atmosphere seems dark and eerie which lets the audience know that its dark and it seems to be in a town in America. Furthermore the fact that we are introduced with two mysterious deaths makes the audience want to carry on watching this is the temporal marker as we know about the genre which is horror and thriller as the scene gives this away. In addition to this the historical marker seems modernised as we are introduced to a young teen who has lost her parents and assume that the deaths that happened were the girls parents.This is the character marker and as the season commences you get to know more information about the girl and family through other marker. There are other factors that lets us know the genre of this TV series as every time the male character sees blood he begins to turn into a vampire which lets the audience know the generic marker which is science fiction and horror and drama. 

3)The first example that i believe fits with props theory is Harry Potter as the villan would be voldemort, The dispatcher and donor is Dumbledore, The Helper's are Ron and Hermoine. The Princess if Ginny, The false hero would be Draco Malfoy and the Hero is Harry himself .One of the most popular movie franchises of all time, Harry Potter is built around these character codes.
Another example would be cry wolf and star wars.

4) An example of binary opposition is in Harry potter as harry is constantly seen as the good guy n films and has always been a target for Voldermort who is seen as the evil guy throughout the film as these opposites are constantly exaggerated throughout the films.

5)The examples provided from the fact sheet is Lord of the rings which emphasise the  fact that the winner often represents the dominant ideas and values of our culture. When the policeman captures the criminal in a crime drama– the ideology of the value of law and order is emphasised.

6) Enigma and action codes provide gratification for the audience because problems are and creates tension for the audience and the viewers are curious to what action will be taking place and as there are different narratives for each movie there is different genre and audiences can feel a great range of emotions.

7)Episodic narrative: A type of series that can be watched regardless which part and ends with a resolution in each episode.

Overarching narrative: This is the kind of serial which doesn't have a resolution at the end of each episode but resolves when the the serial finishes.

Mixed narrative: When the TV episode or serial uses an overarching narrative which over complicates the situation so that tension can build up for a number of days in a number of episodes.

Multi Strand overlapping narrative: This is an open narrative which sometimes has resolutions and sometimes doesn't and tells different stories at the same time.

8) The fact sheet suggests that the adverts use narrative because these elements of narrative are included within it as audiences understand the way this structure works and are able to interpret the stories through their logical sequencing. Narrative is a structure which helps us make sense of events and occurrences in the real world and so is an important aspect of the production of media texts to allow audiences to make sense of the events and occurrences they are presented with.
